Verification and Validation Engineer – Test Analyst

Job Purpose and Primary Objective

 

The Verification and Validation Engineer – Test Analyst is responsible for designing, developing and implementing methods of testing and troubleshooting diabetes handset, pump and backend software under development, as well as those already established and undergoing design changes. The post holder is a team member on project teams, interacting with members from Marketing, Quality, Regulatory, Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, as well as others required for the particular project. This position requires knowledge of software engineering and the desire to learn aspects of the other disciplines to facilitate growth into system-level testing and effectively communicate with those in other engineering disciplines.

 

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Write clear, concise testing documents, including test protocols/procedures, test reports, as well as other communications to other parts of the organization.
  • Manage the full testing life cycle, inputting into test strategy, writing test plans and scripts and ensuring the quality of all new releases.
  • Tests software applications to ensure quality in line with defined process and policy
  • Produces clear and concise test documentation (e.g. test strategy, test report and defect log)
  • Drives continuous improvements through root cause analysis of defects and ensures quality through all project stages
  • Proactively contributes into, develops and maintains test process and policy
  • Works with application developers to ensure a high level of quality in development output
  • Liaises with business users to validate, clarify and expand on requirements during development to support successful delivery
  • Desire to work within a regulated medical device development environment, particularly based on the FDA Quality System Regulation and ISO 13485.
  • Demonstrate competency with software application systems, web and database testing with desire to learn aspects of the other disciplines to grow as a system-level test engineer.
  • Work with other test engineers to design and/or develop testing methods and equipment to assure products meet requirements for performance and safety.
  • Work within project teams to complete product testing on time and within budget.
  • Perform regression analysis/testing and associated documentation on existing products undergoing change in design or manufacturing process.
  • Supports hardware, software and sub-system level verification and validation testing

Education / Professional attainments required by candidates:
Essential
  • Computer Science or IT degree
Desirable
  • Diploma of Higher Education (Preferred)

Experience and competencies required:
 
Essential: Previous experience
  • Previous experience of working in fast paced Agile environments/V – Model
  • Experience in all QA activities during the SDLC
  • Experience in Writing reports
  • ISTQB certified
 
Essential: Knowledge
  • Demonstrable understanding and experience of using Test Management and Defect Management Tools
  • Working knowledge of test methodologies and processes
  • Knowledge of software release mechanisms and control
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Able to work within a small team of integration and test engineers
  • Ability to coordinate software releases on a complex multi-vendor software system to multiple teams.
  • Excellent oral, written, cross functional and interpersonal communication skills that are appropriate for various levels of software integration and testing.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude to change and contributes to new ideas and improved ways of working.
  • Demonstrate sound work ethics.

  • Demonstrable understanding and experience of test automation concepts and best practices(Desirable)
  • Knowledge of Selenium using page object model framework
  • Extensive experience across a number of testing disciplines (Regression, Integration, Web, System,
